The 33-year-old is enjoying a second spell with the Bannsiders after rejoining the club from Linfield in 2018.

He has played his part in their success so far this term scoring the crucial equaliser from the spot against Crusaders in the BetMcLean League Cup final as Kearney's men went on to lit the silverware thanks to James McLaughlin's winner.

The Bannsiders boss is thrilled to extend Lowry's stay at The Showgrounds and was quick to praise his contribution to the side.

“It was well documented that we didn’t want Stephen to leave the club in the first place, but despite getting a year or two older, he has maintained the same weight and still plays like a 25 or 26-year-old,” Kearney told the club website.

“He has been outstanding this season and has shown a high level of consistency in his performances.

“He is like a fine wine and is getting better with age and he sets a great example to all.

“Stephen is a great guy, he is well liked and we are delighted to have him at the club.”

Lowry is closing in on 250 appearances with the Bannsiders.
