Oran Kearney feels 'there's still so much to come' from Ballymena United star

Ballymena United boss Oran Kearney believes “there’s still so much to come” from striker Success Edogun after he scored his first Premiership goal since November in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw against Glenavon.

Edogun joined the Sky Blues from Finn Harps in January 2025 and has shown signs of promise during his time at The Showgrounds, netting seven league goals in 44 appearances.

The 24-year-old has played his part in 30 of Ballymena’s 34 Premiership matches to date and struck for a fourth time in the current campaign by opening the scoring earlier this week.

Edogun will be hoping to end the season on a high with Kearney’s men travelling to Carrick Rangers on Saturday before a midweek clash with Bangor – April 14 has been confirmed as the rearranged date following a postponement earlier this month.

“There’s still so much to come from him,” Kearney told the club’s media channel. “He has so many good qualities and at times he does things so brilliantly well.

"There’s other times in games where with a little bit of care, it doesn’t always have to be a turn and dribble, you can set the ball off, start your run and then get the ball.

"We’re working with him, we’re trying our hardest to bring those other little aspects to his game, but his honesty, work ethic and attitude has been brilliant since I come in.”

Another boost for Kearney came with Patrick McEleney making his first appearance since January as a late substitute on Tuesday.

The former Derry City midfielder has only registered 13 Premiership outings this term due to injury, and there could be doubt over his weekend involvement due to feeling a foot issue moments after coming off the bench.

"I think he has come on and possibly within a pass, I think he said he has passed the ball but has twinged a muscle in his standing foot,” added Kearney. “We have worked really hard and got a lot of game time into him behind closed doors to try and get him up to speed again.

"He managed to get through the 20 minutes so we will see how he feels.”
