Brian McCormack has Isle of Man TT team 'I wanted' after top European rider David Datzer joins Roadhouse Macau line-up following injury nightmare

Ireland’s Brian McCormack says he now has the “team I wanted” after top European rider David Datzer was confirmed in a two-man Roadhouse Macau team.

Former IRRC Superbike champion and two-time podium finisher Datzer was due to ride with McCormack last year until his season was curtailed by serious injuries suffered in a crash at the Stare Mesto road races in the Czech Republic, when he was hit by another rider’s bike.

The 33-year-old returned to action at the end of 2025, finishing third in the final IRRC round at Frohburg.

Datzer and McCormack will ride BMW M100RR machinery under the Roadhouse Macau banner in the Superbike, Superstock and Senior races at the TT, and Triumph 765 machines for Global Robots/PHR Performance in the Supersport category.

McCormack is also entered in the Sportbike races on a Global Robots Aprilia RS660.

The 42-year-old from Waterford, who has sealed three top-ten finishes at the TT, most recently in the 2024 Superbike race when he finished tenth, said he had been busy throughout the winter putting everything in place for 2026.

“I’m really looking forward to 2026 and to having the team I wanted in 2025,” said McCormack.

“David couldn’t race with us last year because of his injuries but he’s now fully recovered, we want to help him reach his goals at the TT.

“It’s been a busy winter as a team owner, organising everything while still preparing myself, but I’m in really good shape and great people around us with excellent sponsors and partners.”

With his injury nightmare behind him, German rider Datzer says his “dream” is to lap the Mountain Course at 130mph.

“I’m looking forward to a great and successful season with Roadhouse Macau,” he said. “I’d like to improve on my best lap time, riding the BMW M1000RR - a bike that I know well.

“After my injuries in 2025, the most important thing is to be back on the bike, fit, and enjoying the Mountain Course again. My dream is to enter the 130mph club.”

The team will again be supported by former Sidecar TT winner Klaus Klaffenböck, who returns as a sponsor and brings with him extensive TT experience.

“I’m especially pleased to be working with Brian for the second year in a row,” Klaffenböck said.

“I’m really looking forward to this year’s TT, and I’m confident it will be a successful season for the entire team.”
