Scarborough Gold Cup: Honda Racing's Dean Harrison dominates opening Supersport race from Peter Hickman and Mike Browne - Davey Todd ninth on comeback

Dean Harrison was in dominant form as he won the opening Supersport race at the 80th anniversary Gold Cup meeting at Oliver’s Mount in Scarborough on Saturday.

The Honda Racing rider blitzed the opposition to win by almost 13 seconds after eight laps around the 2.43-mile woodland course from Peter Hickman (Swan Racing by PHR Triumph).

It was British Supersport contender and Isle of Man TT star Harrison’s 113th victory at England’s only road racing venue.

Harrison is competing at the event for the first time since 2023, when he won the Gold Cup race riding a Yamaha for Northern Ireland’s BPE by Russell Racing team.

Modern Superbikes have been excluded from racing at the event on safety grounds since 2017, when several spectators were injured at the Gold Cup meeting.

Hickman narrowly held off 2025 Gold Cup winner Mike Browne (BPE by Russell Racing Yamaha) to secure the runner-up spot.

Tom Weeden finished fourth on the Club 77 Triumph ahead of Rob Hodson (SMT Racing Ducati) and Joey Thompson (TH Racing Honda).

Davey Todd, making his racing return after a six-month injury absence following a crash in March at the Daytona 200, finished ninth on the PHR Performance Triumph.

Earlier, Thompson won the first Supertwin race by half-a-second from Hodson, with Hickman almost 14 seconds back in third.

Weeden claimed the spoils in the opening Classic Superbike race by only two tenths of a second from Thompson, while Scotsman Johnny Stewart – who made history with a four-timer at the Manx Grand Prix in August – rounded out the podium positions.
