Northern Ireland's Daryl Gurney drawn in 'absolute corker' PDC World Darts Championship opener against Beau Greaves
Northern Ireland's Daryl Gurney will take on Beau Greaves in what is undoubtedly one of the highlight ties from the PDC World Darts Championship first round draw.
Gurney, who celebrated World Cup success alongside Josh Rock earlier this year, will be making his 13th PDC World Championships appearance at Alexandra Palace next month – he has previously reached two quarter-finals – and will face one of the sport’s rising superstars.

Greaves celebrated a memorable victory over world number one Luke Littler on route to reaching the PDC World Youth Championship final and has been a dominant force on the women’s tour, winning 44 Women’s Series titles, including 16 in 2025 alone.
The 21-year-old made her PDC World Championship debut in 2023, losing out to William O’Connor, but has since taken her game to another level and will be looking to create a piece of history against Gurney.
Greaves ran former world champions Michael van Gerwen and Gary Anderson close at the Grand Slam of Darts earlier this month, losing both matches 5-4, and impressed against Luke Humphries at the UK Open.
It’s one of the most anticipated ties of the opening round with Josh saying on social media: “Daryl Gurney v Beau Greaves should be an absolute corker!!”.
Elsewhere, Broughshane native Rock will face Gemma Hayter – it’s possible he could meet Gurney in the opening rounds with both drawn in the same section.
Co Tyrone’s Mickey Mansell has been drawn against America’s Leonard Gates while Brendan Dolan will take on Tavis Dudeney.
