Ami Craig, Community Champion at the store, was working near the checkouts when she spotted some notes on the ground. When she picked them up, she realised there was much more than she’d expected – a total of £240.

“When I was holding the money, I just thought this could be someone's rent money or how I couldn't easily replace £240 if I had lost it myself,” said Ami.

Ami quickly alerted nearby colleagues and the security team to find out whether the money had been reported missing.

“We knew it must have been lost by a customer, so I handed it in to customer service,” she said.

The next day, Ami was informed a customer had returned to the store just 10 minutes after she had found the money, explaining he had withdrawn £300 from the ATM, spent £60 in store, and only realised afterwards he had lost the remaining £240.

Thanks to Ami's quick thinking and honesty, the money was safely returned to the customer in full. Checkout colleague Sam Scott was on shift at the time and was delighted to share the good news with the customer.

Ami said: “He was delighted, and I was absolutely thrilled to know I helped get the money back to him.”

Anthony Quinn, GSM, Asda Bangor added: “We’re all very proud of Ami, her honesty and professionalism while carrying out her duties that helped reunite the customer with something incredibly valuable. Well done, Ami!”
