Asda Supports Tidy Randalstown’s Big Spring Clean
Asda Antrim has praised the outstanding community spirit shown as part of Tidy Randalstown’s Big Spring Clean, which brought together volunteers of all ages to help refresh the town after a long winter.
Tidy Randalstown is a volunteer-led group dedicated to the maintenance and regeneration of the town. The large-scale community clean up saw more than 40 volunteers, ranging in age from two to 87 years old, tackling weeds, sweeping streets, cleaning planters and bins as well as carrying out extensive litter picking.

Ashley Ritchie, Asda Antrim Community Champion, attended and supported the clean-up. She said:
“It was my pleasure to attend Tidy Randalstown’s Big Community Clean Up. The work the group carries out throughout the town is amazing, they keep it spick and span and make it look beautiful, especially when the summer flowers come into bloom.
“It is always a great day out and I leave with a real sense of achievement and community spirit - and even the odd sore back if they really put me to work!” she joked. “It was fantastic to see volunteers working together with such positivity, despite the cold conditions.”
An impressive 80 bags of litter and green waste, along with a number of larger discarded items, were collected and responsibly disposed of on the day. The clean-up will significantly reduce the workload for Tidy Randalstown’s regular Monday and Wednesday volunteer teams as they continue efforts to make the town look its best.
Suzanne Winter, Secretary and Trustee, Tidy Randalstown said:
“It was a cold and blustery day, but that didn’t stop our Big Spring Clean. We’re so grateful to the all the volunteers who worked side by side, using plenty of elbow grease and teamwork. The results speak for themselves.
“The additional support we received from Ashley Ritchie and Asda, as well as Aodhán O’Hara from Live Here Love Here, Councillor Annie O’Lone and Nigel McKee from CM Waste is hugely appreciated and gives real encouragement to keep advancing the environmental and community principals we are committed to.”
Fundraising also played a key role on the day, with bucket collections raising an outstanding £1,223.81 for Tidy Randalstown. Suzanne added:
“This funding will help pay for summer planting and replacement pots. A massive thank you to the public for their generosity and continued support.”
