Bangor Aurora Aquatic & Leisure Complex shortlisted at ukactive awards
Bangor Aurora Aquatic & Leisure Complex has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Centre of the Year category at the 2026 ukactive Awards, recognising the outstanding impact the facility has made in improving health and wellbeing outcomes across the local community.

The ukactive awards celebrate excellence and innovation across the physical activity, leisure and fitness sector, with the Centre of the Year category recognising facilities that demonstrate exceptional community impact, customer service, inclusivity and innovation.
Bangor Aurora previously won the Centre of the Year award in 2021 and went on to achieve further success two years later when the centre’s inspirational fitness instructor Elaine Hutton was crowned Physical Activity Hero of the Year in 2023.

Iain Greenway, Chair of Northern Community Leisure Trust, which operates the centre, said:
"Being named a finalist for Centre of the Year is a fantastic achievement and a reflection of the passion and dedication shown by our entire team. Every day, we see first-hand the difference that physical activity, community support and accessible health interventions can make to people's lives.
“We are proud to support residents on their health and wellbeing journeys and to work alongside local partners to create a healthier, more connected community."
The winners of the 2026 ukactive Awards will be announced later this year, with the ceremony due to take place on October 8th at Birmingham’s International Convention Centre
Bangor Aurora Aquatic & Leisure Complex, Bangor Sportsplex and Queens Leisure Complex are operated by Northern Community Leisure Trust in partnership with Serco Leisure, and on behalf of Ards & North Down Borough Council.
