New Ulster Scots Horror Series to Launch on BBC iPlayer this Halloween
BBC iPlayer launches Bogle Cove this Halloween

New Ulster-Scots horror shorts from Northern Visions arrive on BBC iPlayer from 6am on 31st October
A chilling new Ulster-Scots drama series, Bogle Cove, will launch on BBC iPlayer at 6.00am on Halloween, 31 October 2026, bringing four original horror shorts to audiences across Northern Ireland and beyond.

Produced by Northern Visions and supported by the Ulster-Scots Broadcast Fund, Bogle Cove is a bold new collection of short films rooted in folklore, atmosphere and the distinctive voice of Ulster-Scots.
Commissioned by BBC Northern Ireland, the series blends suspense, dark humour and supernatural unease across four standalone stories, creating a distinctive screen experience for Halloween. Set among lonely roads, shadowy interiors, graveyards and uneasy encounters, the films draw on local storytelling traditions while presenting Ulster-Scots in a fresh and cinematic way.
Glynis Hagan, Producer
“Bogle Cove gave us the chance to create something genuinely distinctive — original horror stories told through an Ulster-Scots voice, atmosphere and imagination. It allowed new and emerging talent to work alongside experienced filmmakers in bringing something eerie, cinematic and culturally rooted to the screen. We’re delighted audiences will be able to discover the series on BBC iPlayer this Halloween.”
Bogle Cove will be available to stream on BBC iPlayer from 6.00am on Thursday 31st October 2026.
