The 33-year-old took time out from work following the birth of her second child but is now keen to land a new role after being inspired by a hit show filmed in her home city.

“This City Is Ours — I'm just proud that it's a big drama from Liverpool, she said. “Along with Adolescence as well, which was fantastic, with Stephen Graham. But This City Is Ours, from being a Scouse actress, is giving our people a chance to show how talented they are. You only have to watch it to see Bobby Schofield and a few of the others, Jack [McMullen] and James [Nelson-Joyce], and how amazing they are.”

Stephanie played the role of Sinead O’Connor on Hollyoaks for nine years until 2019, followed by a spell as Courtnay Vance in Coronation Street in 2023. While she is still a huge fan of the soaps and would keep an open mind about returning to the genre, she has her sights set on other roles.

Speaking to WhichBingo, Stephanie explained: “Jimmy McGovern is one of the best minds, personally, that I think there is as a writer, from the things I've watched him do. He's just a genius, the way he sees everything. He has this ability to bring you into it more than any other drama — you're watching it, and you become immersed in it. I've always been fascinated with everything he does, and I always know that a Jimmy McGovern drama is going to be fantastic, even if it's from way back when.

“I'm just made up for us as a city, and I think it's only right to do something that's part of me, my hometown. I'd love that.”
