Dungannon producer wins World’s Best Grass-fed Fillet Steak title
The World’s Best Grass-fed Fillet Steak and Europe’s Best Steak are both produced in Co Tyrone from premium grass-fed cattle.
Expert judges in the annual World Steak Challenge in Amsterdam awarded both titles to ABP UK in Dungannon, part of one of Europe’s biggest meat processors.

And Kettyle Foods in Lisnaskea, another ABP company, was named a finalist in the Small Producer category at the World Steak Challenge 2026 Company Awards. Kettlyle also won gold for its fillet steak.
A spokesman for Kettyle Irish Foods said: “For us, it’s recognition of the craft, care and expertise that goes into what we do every day, and a real credit to the whole Kettyle team behind It.”

ABPUK, in addition, won gold medals for its ribeye steak, while Foyle Food Group of Campsie, Co Londonderry, gained a bronze medal for its ribeye and a silver for its sirloin.
The latest awards for NI’s biggest sector in food processing follow the success of Dunbia, another Dungannon-headquartered company, in winning Britain’s Best Burger in the Meat Manufacturing Excellence Awards.
Launched in 2015 to deliver a recognised stamp of quality to support world-class steak production on a global platform, the World Steak Challenge is the globe’s first event that gives steak producers from across the world a unique opportunity to benchmark product quality, breed credentials and processing standards on the international stage.
The challenge enables entrants to achieve an internationally recognised stamp of excellence, whilst providing an opportunity to engage with consumers and promote the benefits of eating steak which is sustainably sourced with good providence.

Since its launch, the challenge has seen thousands of steaks from 25 steak-producing countries tasted, tested and scored through our independent, robust and fair judging process.
A total of 328 medals were awarded at this year’s World Steak Challenge. Of the total, 128 were gold medals, 114 steaks were given silver medals, and 86 steaks were bronze medal winners. Ireland took home the most gold medals, with 29 steaks from the country awarded the accolade, closely followed by Australia, with 27 steaks from the country awarded a gold medal.
