Kate began her career with John P Hagan Solicitors in 2007 and is not only a specialist in farming related legal issues but hails from a farming background. To this day she lives on a farm and has her own flock of Dorset sheep which means she also has a practical understanding of the daily trials farmers face.

Kate is a member, by examination, of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners with a specialist interest in farming and farm related legal issues. She has a large farming client base and deals with farming queries on a daily basis, both in relation to day-to-day issues and commercial transactions, in particular Wind Turbine and Anaerobic Digester Projects.

Commenting on her new monthly column, Kate Ervine said: “On behalf of JPH Law I am delighted to be contributing to a monthly column in Farming Life. The column will consider a wide range of issues such as planning for the future; how to deal with the future of Single Farm Payment and how this is dealt with in the administration of an Estate and wording your Will correctly to be most tax advantageous. 2015 has been a difficult year and it is hoped that the advice in my column will open up discussion as well as provide relevant and practical feedback on the trials and tribulations farmers will face throughout 2016.”
