'We sold 92% of our order within the first week': Belfast food firm’s burritos prove a hit with Aldi shoppers
Go Pig sold 92% of its first order in a week after securing shelf space in 167 stores through Aldi’s Grow with Aldi programme
Tasty Mexican-style burritos from Belfast are proving popular with supermarket shoppers across the Republic of Ireland.

The popular burritos are produced by Go Pig, an award-winning specialist in heat-to-eat meals located in Titanic Quarter, which was selected by Aldi Ireland for its stores in the Republic as part of its support for smaller food and drink companies this year.
“When we were chosen for the Grow with Aldi programme, it was our first business with a multiple retailer,” explains Go Pig commercial manager Heather McCracken.

“Our burritos hit the shelves in 167 stores across Ireland. We used this as an opportunity to see how they would perform in a completely new market. They didn’t disappoint. We sold 92% of our order within the first week. It was hugely encouraging for our small business.
“A completely new brand and product on shelf in Ireland, and we were thrilled at the response from shoppers who had never heard of us before,” adds Heather.
“We are grateful for Aldi for giving is this opportunity to grow our business especially in the Republic.”
The company is also set to announce more sales to Tesco NI and Tesco Ireland in another business boost.
In addition to burritos, Go Pig produces a range of healthy, nutritious vegetarian foods for convenience stores, gyms, and for home delivery across Northern Ireland.
Based in Titanic Quarter, the company, owned by experienced businessman James Hutchinson, the managing director, and leading chef and food creator Gary Milligan, has developed an extensive range of convenience meals specialising in locally sourced ingredients,
Operating from a 16,000 sq. ft. unit at Channel Commercial Park, the innovation-led business was launched in 2016 and now supplies the likes of Eurospar, Centra, SuperValu, NISA and Mace here and leading convenience stores in the Republic through a distribution deal.
Heather continues: “We develop nutritionally balanced, low calorie, high protein meals for health conscious consumers that are ready to eat in minutes.
“Our meals are all chef prepared and high quality ready to eat that are designed for convenience without compromise.”
