Northern Ireland is without question moving in the right direction concerning the Covid-19 pandemic.

The data published in the Department of Health (DoH) Covid-19 dashboard reveals new daily infections, new Covid-19 related deaths, hospital admissions and the number of Covid positive patients in intensive care units throughout Northern Ireland are all continuing to fall.

The DoH reported a further two Covid-19 related deaths as having occurred in the last 24 hours.

One was a man and one was a woman - both were aged 80 or older.

Northern Ireland's fight against Covid-19 is starting to show significant results.

It takes Northern Ireland's Covid-19 related death-toll for the entire pandemic so far to 2,050.

The DoH also recorded an additional 241 new infections in the last 24 hours - this is 40 fewer than what was reported yesterday.

It means the total number of people to test positive for Covid in the last seven days and since the beginning of the pandemic is 1,797 and 112,173 respectively.

There are also six fewer inpatients with Covid-19 in Northern Ireland hospitals today than there were yesterday when the DoH recorded 341.

The number of patients with Covid-19 require intensive care unit (ICU) treatment has also come down in the last 24 hours from 44 on Thursday to 36 today.

There are 62 patients without Covid in intensive care and there are currently 35 unoccupied ICU beds across Northern Ireland.

Northern Ireland's hospital bed capacity is at 96 per cent.
