Another 12 deaths due to coronavirus confirmed by Stormont health department as hospitals continue to feel pressure

Seven of the new deaths occurred in the 24 hours leading up to 10am today, with the other five occurring earlier without having been recorded in official statistics.
That brings the total death count for those who had tested positive for the virus to 1,085 in Northern Ireland.

Hide AdMeanwhile, another 483 people have tested positive for the virus here.
In the past seven days, there have been 3,031 new cases — of whom 229 were in the most vulnerable 80-and-over age category, with 452 aged between 60 and 79.
Hospitals in Northern Ireland continue to remain under pressure, with 425 inpatients confirmed as carrying the virus when the figures were recorded this morning.
Of that group, 31 are in intensive care fighting for their lives, with 24 on ventillators.

Hide AdIn terms of capacity, Northern Ireland has more patients requiring treatment than the total number of beds available.
The Altnagelvin, Causeway, Lagan Valley, Mater, Royal Victoria, South West Acute, and Ulster Hospitals are all listed as being ‘over capacity’ by the Department of Health.
