Appeal over crash as community urged to pray for Justine

Police investigating a serious crash which left 17-year-old Lurgan girl Justine McConville in a critical condition have issued an appeal for the drivers of certain vehicles to come forward.

Justine was badly injured in the incident on Lake Street in the town on Friday evening.

She remains in a critical condition in Belfast’s Royal Victoria Hospital.

A PSNI spokesman said: “The collision involving a 17-year-old female pedestrian and a red Citroen Saxo car occurred at around 9.40pm leaving the girl in a critical condition in hospital.

“I am now appealing to the drivers of the following vehicles to contact us with any information they may have.

“They are an Orange Toyota Aygo, a silver Volkswagen Golf or Polo, a dark-coloured people carrier, a silver Peugeot and a green or blue Seat Ibiza.”

The St Ronan’s College pupil has a large family who have been maintaining a round-the-clock vigil in hospital.

With five sisters and three brothers, Justine is a twin to her brother Justin.

Justine’s sister Edel told the Lurgan Mail: “She is a very family-orientated girl. She is very kind, caring and loves being an aunty to all her nieces and nephews.

“She is studying health and social care, media and ICT at AS level.

“We would ask everyone to pray for her.”
