Armed robbery in West Belfast

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery on O'Neill Street in west Belfast last night, Friday 17 March.

It was reported that at around 8pm a food delivery driver was stopped on O’Neill Street when he was approached by a male who asked for a lift.

Another male climbed into the car and threatened the driver with a screwdriver and demanded money.

The male punched the driver on the face before making off with a sum of cash. The driver, aged in his 20’s, sustained bruising to his eye as a result of the incident.

Detective Constable Arnott is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone who has any information that can assist with the investigation to contact detectives in Musgrave Police Station on 101 quoting reference number 1218 of 17/03/17. Information can also be given anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
