As reported this week, more than 50 trainees have been ordered to re-do their 22-week training course at Garnerville PSNI college.

It came after it was discovered students had been trying to uncover all the questions which examiners were going to ask in their final test.

While on the course, the PSNI said trainees are paid around £8,200.

It is believed 52 will now retrain. This means all together they will be paid around £426,000 over course – in addition to keeping the money from their earlier attempt at the course.

This figure does not include the cost of providing the training itself.

As well as those trainees who are being retrained, the PSNI allowed another 20 to graduate anyway – albeit with warning letters.
