Belfast Crown Court Judge Neil Rafferty QC told Joshua Ronald Gray that it was “intolerably clear” he had been an active rioter.

Gray, 27, of Silverbirch, who will serve seven and a half months in custody, followed by a similar period on licence, pleaded guilty to rioting on July 13, 2015.

Prosecutor Stephen Jenkins said Gray was videoed throwing two bottles at police and was pictured helping others to pull a fence into the road.

A defence lawyer said Gray had readily admitted his guilt to police and had described his own actions as “idiotic”.
