Officers said the incident unfolded on Tate’s Avenue around 10.10pm on Saturday when the man was bumped into by two males.

They proceeded to punch him about the face, inflicting cuts and bruises to his face and hands.

Both suspects have since been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

A PSNI spokesman said: “We would take this opportunity to remind the public that incidents of this nature will not be tolerated and would encourage anyone who has been the victim of a hate incident/crime to report the matter to their local Police on 101.”
