Driver hit speed of 113mph on his way to get forgotten football boots for his daughter
A motorist hit a speed of 113mph to get a pair of football boots for his daughter.
Richard Bamford (42), of Quarry Road in Knockcloghrim near Magherafelt, was detected at a 70mph zone on August 3 last year though the court was not given the location. He was at Antrim Magistrates' Court, sitting in Ballymena on Tuesday, and pleaded guilty.

A prosecutor said the defendant was detected in a Hyundai Tucson at 10.14am. The defendant had three "previous endorsements" for speeding. A defence barrister said the defendant was remorseful and accepts it was an "entirely unacceptable" speed.
She said he had taken his daughter to football training. He left her off but she had "forgotten her football boots" and he had gone home to get them and bring them back.
District Judge Nigel Broderick said that would have been "cold comfort" if the defendant had hit somebody at 113mph".
He told the defendant: "This was 113mph. Going home to get your child's football boots is in no way any excuse whatsoever for doing any speed, especially not this. You created a danger on the road".
He banned the defendant from driving for six weeks and fined him £500.
