Firefighters tasked to deliberate blazes in Ballyclare

Members of the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) were tasked to two deliberate blazes in the Thornhill Drive area of Ballyclare over the weekend.

One fire appliance from Ballyclare Fire Station responded to reports of gorse on fire in the area at 9.16pm on Saturday, April 24.

A NIFRS spokesperson said: “Firefighters used four beaters to extinguish the fire. The incident was dealt with by 9.32pm and the cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate ignition.”

Meanwhile, yesterday (Sunday), firefighters were called to reports of five seats of fire in two separate fields at 5.46pm.

A NIFRS spokesperson said: “Firefighters used eight beaters to extinguish the fire. The incident was dealt with by 6.24pm and the cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate ignition.”
