Householder struck on head, face and knee in aggravated burglary | man assaulted with dumbbells and hammers

A householder was taken to hospital after an aggravated burglary at a house on Forthriver Road in north Belfast.

The incident happened on Friday evening when it is understood three masked men armed with hammers gained entry to the property at around 8pm.

A PSNI statement says they assaulted the resident, a 21 year old man, with the hammers and dumbbells which they had found within the property.

The intruders caused damage to the kitchen before making off.

The statement adds that the victim, who was struck on the head, face and knee, required hospital treatment for his injuries.
