Man in 80s threatened with screwdriver in aggravated burglary - sum of money taken

A man in his 80s has been threatened with a screwdriver during an aggravated burglary at his home.

The incident happened in Clonelly Avenue in west Belfast this afternoon - and the burglar made off with “a sum of money”.

Detective Sergeant O’Flaherty said it happened around 1pm when the occupant “disturbed an unknown male inside his property”.

“He was reported to have been armed with a screwdriver and threatened the victim before making off from the property with a sum of money, in a grey coloured Citroen car.

“We are appealing to anyone who was in the area around that time and who noticed any suspicious activity to get in touch.

“Please contact detectives at Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 780 of 25/02/20.”
