A man aged in his 30s has been jailed for historical serious sexual offences against an adult and a child under the age of 13.

At Antrim Crown Court on Wednesday, the man was sentenced to a total of 14 years, which will include seven years in prison and seven years on licence. The man will also be on the sex offenders register for life.

Detective Inspector Leah Crothers said: “I welcome the fact this offender is behind bars and the extreme courage shown by the victims in coming forward. This outcome will hopefully encourage others who experience any form of sexual abuse to come forward and contact police. It also sends out a strong message to those involved in sexual abuse that we are determined to make them amenable for their crimes.
