Police charge man with death by dangerous driving after death of 24-year-old Lucy McIlhatton

Police have charged a 45-year-old man with death by dangerous driving after a fatal which cost the life of 24-year-old Lucy McIlhatton in Belfast.

He is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court on May 27.

Lucy McIlhatton was a pedestrian on the Springfield Road when the incident, involving a silver Toyota Avensis car, happened at 9pm on Sunday January 4 this year.

The man has also been reported to the PPS for other offences.

Mourners at her funeral in January heard that she “will always be remembered for her beautiful smile”.

Family and friends gathered in St Teresa’s Church in west Belfast to pay their last respects.

Lucy was a past pupil of St Dominic’s Grammar School and worked in IT.
