The case stems from an incident on Tuesday, July 14, when police were called to a property in the Skipperstone Road area towards the south of Bangor at about 2am.

There, a 44-year-old woman was found unresponsive.

She was taken to hospital but died on the evening of Friday, July 17.

The force added: “A 54-year-old man, who was arrested on Tuesday July 14 on suspicion of carrying out an assault, was subsequently released on bail pending further enquiries.

"A post mortem examination has now taken place, however, further tests by the pathologist are required to support and inform the investigative process.

"Specialist officers continue to provide support to the family, as the investigation continues.”
