PSNI release shocking image of weapons recovered during violent incident at NI funeral.

Mourners and a priest at a funeral service in Northern Ireland fled a church on Thursday afternoon amid reports of gunfire outside.

The shocking incident occurred on Melmount Road, Strabane, Co. Tyrone.

The PSNI has released a shocking image of weapons, including hatchets and machetes, recovered during the incident.

The PSNI has confirmed officers arrested two males aged 32 and 17 in connection with the incident.

No serious injuries were reported.

A number of weapons including Stanley knives and a hatchet were seized.

“We are aware of suggestions online that shots had been fired at the church on the Melmount Road however there was a proactive police operation in place at the location and no evidence of shots having been fired were noted,” explained a PSNI spokesperson.
