Cyclist in critical condition after collision

A cyclist has been left in a critical condition after being struck by a car.

The male cyclist, who is understood to be in his thirties, was struck by a car on the Lisnevenagh Road outside Antrim around 10.30am.

A PSNI spokesman said he is believed to be in a critical but stable condition at present.

The cyclist was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

A spokesman for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said they received a 999 call at 10.23 am today "following reports of a RTC on the Lisnevenagh Road involving a vehicle and a cyclist".

A Rapid Response Paramedic, an A&E crew and a BASICS doctor were despatched to the scene.

"NIAS also tasked the Charity Air Ambulance to the incident," the spokesman added.

" Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene one male patient with serious injuries was taken by road ambulance to RVH in Belfast."
