Honouring the fallen: Silence falls across Omagh

A hushed silence fell across Omagh as people gathered in their hundreds to honour their fallen heroes on Remembrance Sunday.

Members of the public, local community organisations and groups joined together for the annual Act of Remembrance and two-minutes silence at the town’s Cenotaph, led by His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for Co Tyrone, James Baxter.

Prior to the service, an ecumenical service was held at Omagh Academy to honour all those who served and sacrificed.

Members of Omagh Royal British Legion gathered at the Legion Hall for inspection before parading through the town to the school.

The procession also passed by the Boer War Memorial before returning to the Royal British Legion Hall in Campsie.
