Indecent image accused banned from contact with children

A 57-year-old man accused of having an indecent image of children must not be alone with anyone under 18, a judge has ordered.

The ban was imposed on Kieran Anthony Hagan as he appeared before Belfast Magistrates’ Court charged with five offences.

Hagan, of Ardenlee Crescent in the city, faces counts of making, possessing and distributing an indecent photograph of a child or children.

He is further accused of having an extreme pornographic image and possession of an image of a child prohibited by the Coroners and Justice Act.

Standing in the dock dressed in a suit, Hagan replied “Yes” when asked if he understood the charges.

A police officer connected him to the alleged offences.

Prosecutors asked for a six-week adjournment to make progress in the case.

Releasing the defendant on continuing bail of £500, District Judge Mark Hamill ordered him to have no unsupervised contact with any child under 18 unless approved by social services.

Hagan was told to return to court on September 12.
