Irish President visits Oval during Ulster visit

Irish President Michael D Higgins has visited the Glentoran Football Club grounds - The Oval - during a series of stops in Northern Ireland this weekend.

President Higgins and his wife Sabina met deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness, Economy Minister Simon Hamilton, Glentoran Club Chairman Stephen Henderson, Glentoran manager Alan Kernaghan and junior players Charlie Lindsay and Aaron Wightman during their visit.

They also visited a 1916 exhibition at the Ulster Museum in Belfast before travelling to the Corrymeela Community in Co Antrim where he addressed a Conference entitled “Living Well Together Beyond 2016”.
