Ninth person charged over Easter disorder


The figure was revealed after police charged a 24-year-old man following the disorder and subsequent investigation.
He was arrested in the Lurgan area today (Saturday, April 30) and has been charged with affray, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and criminal damage.

Hide AdHe is expected to appear before Craigavon Magistrates Court on Wednesday, May 25. As is normal procedure all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
Commenting on this latest charge, Chief Inspector Jon Burrows said: “This brings the total number of people arrested and charged in connection with this disorder to nine. They have been charged with a total of 30 offences including riotous behaviour and throwing petrol bombs.
“We are committed to identifying those involved in this disorder and to bring the offenders before the Courts.”
On Friday two men aged 30 and 53 were charged in connection with the public disorder which happened in the Kilwilkie area of the town.

Hide AdThe pair have been charged with offences including assault occasioning actual bodily harm and obstruction.
They are also due to appear at Craigavon Magistrates court on 25th May. Again the charges will be reviewed by the PPS.
