Congratulations to Carl Frampton

He is fast becoming one of the world’s boxing legends.

In paying tribute to Carl’s winning ways we also need to acknowledge that Northern Ireland has enjoyed much international sporting success within the past few days. As Carl was preparing to step into the ring a rowing team from County Down had just won the World Skiffie Championships beating fifty teams including USA, Netherlands, Scotland and Wales.

Also, a NI based team, in a close finish, took 2nd place in the gruelling Clipper Round the World Yacht Race; a remarkable achievement. And didn’t rally driver Kris Meeke do well in his record breaking drive in Finland.

Our athletes, in many sports, are high achievers bringing credit to themselves and to “our wee country”. Well done to all. And we now look forward to success at the Olympics.
