Joe Biden is not yet the president of the United States

I was dismayed to see my beloved News Letter following after less journalistically careful American media outlets by declaring Mr Joseph Biden as the President-elect of the United States of America.

You might remember that another former American vice president was the Democrat candidate in 2000.

For 37 days, Mr Al Gore woke up thinking he was the President-elect.

He too believed the media had the last say.

He was in error.
