Law is a funny thing, especially international law.
A UK law to cancel parts of the Northern Ireland protocol breaches international law and so it is an illegal law, according to critics, including the Irish government; however, apparently the Republic can pass a law to cancel parts of the EU-Canada trade treaty and that is fine and dandy.
