Looking back on past ambulance uniform practices, they were not safe

For many years, ambulance staff came to and from work in the same uniform.

There was no proper showering, changing or laundry facilities for them as provided for some other staff.

This exposed their families to anything that could be picked up.

Fortunately I am not aware of family members contracting serious infections that I can remember.

Thinking on it now it was negligence by the higher levels of management who had responsibility for providing staff resources.

I hope this current coronavirus scare that follows serious forerunners in our history will result in all staff receiving adequate protection.
