Royal Hillsborough designation is a typical sop to unionists for a sell out
A letter from AC Thompson:
Unionists should not get excited over Hillsborough being re-designated as Royal Hillsborough as it is clearly a sop by the government as compensation for the NI Protocol.
I am always suspicious of a Royal visit, a gesture such as Hillsborough or Lisburn and Newry designated as cities. You can be sure it’s part of a trade-off or before or immediately after a sell out.
It is laughable but people seem to fall for it every time.
AC Thompson, Dungannon
