Craigavon: Permission sought to retain The Dog Meadow with public consultation event planned
Canine recreation facility, The Dog Meadow is seeking planning permission to retain two dog parks, ancillary buildings, boundary fencing, a car park and associated site works at Newforge Road, Magheralin.
The private-hire dog field is located within the grounds of Newforge House, a luxury Georgian guesthouse. The Dog Meadow was set up in 2022.
The planning application was lodged by McCreanor & Co. Architects, Ballydougan, on behalf of The Dog Meadow.
The site is described on the application form, lodged on June 29, as including “58, 58A and 58B Newforge Road, Magheralin, Craigavon, and adjacent lands to the north, east, south and south-west”.

The application form adds “due to the size of site area, this application may also be subject to the completion of an Environmental Impact Assessment report”.
The total gross floor space of the proposed development is 26m2.
A public event is planned for August 24, between 4pm and 7pm at Newforge House. Information will also be made available, for all to view, on the agent’s website from August 25. (www.mccreanorandcoarchitects.com/news).
It will remain online for a minimum of 28 days, with residents being given an opportunity to comment on the plans. All neighbours within 200 metres of the site in question will be notified via posted letters.
In correspondence to the agent dated July 9, ABC planning officers wrote: “The council has considered the Pre-Application Notification and finds that it contains sufficient information with regards community consultation measures.
“This is of course not a planning decision by the council and refers only to the compliance with the statutory requirements under Section 27 of the 2011 Planning Act.”
