Following on from the success of her breastfeeding support website, boobingit.com, the Belfast woman has now hit the record button and has launched the boobingit podcast.

In each podcast episode, Ruth,35, chats to a mum or breastfeeding expert, with the aim to lift the lid on breastfeeding.

At a time when new mothers are struggling to find their feet and breastfeed in a pandemic, Ruth is keen to offer them a place to find out more about breastfeeding.

She said:“There’s lots of UK parenting podcasts out there but none that focus on breastfeeding.

“Now more than ever there’s a need for a breastfeeding podcast so that people feel less alone and more supported on their breastfeeding journey.

“I want to connect with other mums by having meaningful conversations about breastfeeding; how it impacts our sense of self, and why it’s often not the easiest journey to be on.”

Ruth added: “I think a lot of mums are like me and enjoy listening to a podcast because it’s something we tune into whilst also doing something else - cooking, driving, walking the dog!

“By setting up the boobingit podcast I hope to reach even more mums and continue to grow the breastfeeding community on boobingit.com.”

On ‘boobingit.com’ there are real-life breastfeeding stories, helpful tips, and up-to-date information on all things breastfeeding. There is also a community forum for parents to ask and answer questions on common breastfeeding challenges.

Motivated by her role as a breastfeeding peer supporter and her own breastfeeding journey during lockdown, Ruth wanted to find a way to help women continue to breastfeed during the uncertainty of a pandemic.

She said:“Breastfeeding can be daunting and overwhelming to get to grips with at the best of times, but due to Covid-19 restrictions, things have been made harder. My first breastfeeding journey was four years ago and I received lots of face-to-face support when I was struggling.

“Feeding my second child during lockdown was a totally different and more lonely journey, but I at least had experience on my side to help me get through. “As a breastfeeding peer supporter, my heart breaks for new mums who are struggling and missing out on face-to-face support.”

*Ruth has recorded five, 30 minut episodes and each one can be found on boobingit.com and all podcast platforms, including Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Google Podcasts.
