Portadown student draws inspiration for her first book from grandfather Brian Cornett

Well-known Portadown businessman Brian Cornett has become the main character of a brand new book.

Brian’s grand-daughter Sarah Wills, a graphic design student, admitted that when she needed some inspiration for her final project assignment to create and publish a book, she didn’t have to look too far.

"I have always had a love for art and pursuing a passion for children's books and illustration.

"My grandfather is my biggest artistic inspiration, through everything artistic I do, he is involved and ‘the boss’,” said Sarah.

It was a natural step therefore, that 27-year-old Sarah’s newly-released short story book would combine inspiration from her grandfather – the founder of Brian Cornett Electrical Supplies in Cecil Street – with her love for dogs.

‘A man's best friend’ is a colourful, fun paperback about a man and his canine companion in a best friend relationship, navigating day to day issues and how they can resolve them together through faith.

It has been self-published, fully created, dialogued and put together by Sarah.

She has been delighted with the response to her first book, which she describes as being “for younger ages but also anyone who wishes to bring more positive vibes into their life”.

Sarah said: “The book has had such a big influence, it has now sold out across Portadown and further afield but I am encouraged by many people to start on my new chapter for book number two as the first launch was such a big hit.

"The faith of God and his path has led me to where I am today.”
