Plans lodged to restore listed telephone kiosk to house public-access defibrillator
Plans have been lodged to convert a listed BT telephone kiosk into a public-access automated external defibrillator at 46/48 St. Patrick’s Street, Draperstown.
The planning application has been submitted by Manor Architects, Moneymore, a firm specialising in the restoration, reuse and conversion of listed and heritage buildings.

The plans also include associated internal fittings, repair and replacement of damaged fabric and glazing, repainting and new signage.
The traditional telephone kiosk is in a bad state of disrepair, according to Manor Architects, who have submitted a series of photographs detailing some of the restoration work needed.
They wrote: “Damaged bottom panels are to be carefully replaced, welded, repaired and repainted to match the existing.
“Broken glazing is to be carefully removed and replaced with toughened safety glass.
“All internal BT workings are to be carefully removed as approved by and in agreement with BT.”
The telephone kiosk at 46/48 St. Patrick’s Street is a K6 telephone box. It was designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott and introduced in 1935, in celebration of the Silver Jubilee of King George V.
