'These essential repairs will help ensure the slipway remains safe, functional and fit for purpose': Over £100k approved to protect and enhance harbour in idyllic NI seaside village
Plans to repair and enhance the harbour slipway at one of Northern Ireland’s most scenic seaside villages have moved a step closer, according to the local council.
Members of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council have approved a recommendation to progress the Portballintrae Harbour Slipway repair project to Stage 3 of the council’s capital programme.
The move will see investment by council of £124,711 plus VAT, with a 15% contingency.
Once ratified by council, it is hoped that the project will commence in March and be completed by the start of this summer. CivCo Ltd will carry out the works.

Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Councillor Oliver McMullan, said: “The harbour slipway plays a vital role in daily harbour operations and is well used by fishermen, boat owners and visitors alike.
“These essential repairs will help ensure the slipway remains safe, functional and fit for purpose for years to come, protecting an important local asset at the heart of the village.”
