Suspected burglary team caught in Belfast city centre

Five men have been arrested following the report of a burglary in Belfast city centre.

It happened in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Although police gave few details, they said a member of the public had alerted them to the crime.

The PSNI issued a statement of thanks to “the quick-thinking member of the public who called police to report the burglary”.

The added: “Local officers arrived quickly and arrested five men who are currently in police custody.

“I would also like to appeal to anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the College Street / Royal Avenue area of Belfast in the early hours of this morning to contact police at Musgrave Station on 101, or alternatively, by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
