SDLP Newry and Armagh MLA Justin McNulty believed the child had also been injured.

“I’m totally horrified by this vicious attack that left three adults and a child seriously injured,” he said.

The victims are at a complete loss as to why they were targeted, he said.

“I have been told that the victims were at the building site of a new house when they were confronted by three men wielding a shovel and a wheel brace.” When their attackers realised that there was a young child in the car, they smashed the windows in showering the infant with glass.”
