Injured motorist rushed to Royal Victoria Hospital after collision between van and lorry in busy NI road

An injured motorist was rushed to the RVH in Belfast today after a collision on a busy NI road between a van and a lorry.

The incident is understood to have happened before 1pm on the A26 Lisnevenagh Road.

Earlier a post on TrafficwatchNI said: “Ballymena bound lanes of the #A26 Lisnevenagh Road have been closed at the junction with Barnish Road following a two vehicle road traffic collision.

Diversions are in place, however, motorists are advised to seek an alternative route”.

A spokesman from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service later said after they were informed aboutt he collision the “NIAS despatched an Emergency Crew and an Ambulance officer to the scene”.

“A BASICS Doctor and the Charity Air Ambulance with a HEMS Team on board were also tasked to the incident by ambulance control.

“Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was transferred by ambulance to RVH in Belfast.”
