This comes after successive days of heavy rain and rough weather following Storm Dennis.

Diversions were put in place between the Tullycillion Road and Thomas Street Roundabout in Co Tyrone due to what PSNI Cookstown described as “a land slip and unstable ground”.

The road is closed due to the “height of the banks and the narrowness of the road”, police said.

The PSNI Cookstown Facebook page said: “Diversions are going to be through Donaghmore. Unfortunately there is no short diversion on this one and Coal Pit road is not open either.

“It’s highly likely this road will not be open for the morning rush hour so spread the word.”
