At about 9.45pm on Thursday night, police received a report that three young boys – two aged 12 and one aged 14 – had become stuck.

The police helicopter was tasked to conduct a search of the mountain and located the boys shortly before 10.30pm.

It landed a short distance away and a member of the aircraft crew assisted them.

They were then airlifted to a nearby sports pitch.

The three boys were cold but otherwise unharmed.
