Two men arrested after west Belfast altercation

Three men have been injured and two people arrested following a disturbance in west Belfast on Monday evening.

Around 6.15pm, police received a report of a confrontation - involving a number of people with weapons - taking place on the Andersonstown Road.

Two men were subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent after a confrontation in west Belfast.

The three men who were injured have been described as being stable in hospital.

One eyewitness told the BBC that hurley sticks and hammers were being used as weapons.

The eyewitness said: “They were just beating each other and they had each other down on the ground.

“All you could see was the blood everywhere. It was terrifying to see.”

The PSNI has appealed for anyone with information to call them on the 101 number.
