Youth charged with causing Valerie Armstrong death remains in custody

A youth charged with causing the death of a woman hit by a scrambler motorbike remains in custody following his latest court appearance.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named, is accused of offences linked to a fatal collision with Valerie Armstrong.

Mrs Armstrong, a mother of three, was struck by the bike as she walked her dog in Colin Glen Forest Park on July 19.

Despite being rushed to hospital, the 35-year old died from her injuries.

The teenager faces charges of causing her death by dangerous driving, and using a motor vehicle without insurance.

He was remanded into custody at Hydebank Young Offenders Centre and a further hearing took place via video-link yesterday.

Once again no bid was made to be released from custody.

The teenager was remanded to appear on September 14.
